Foster Home Update October

Viola has been with me since October 4th, having been brought up from a high kill shelter in Shelbyville, Illinois. She was found as a stray before being brought to the shelter. She was very thin and has tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever...which she is being treated for.

She has a very sweet personality and would be fine with any children...even the smallest babies. I think she is young, between 1 and 2. She loves my other dogs, chases my 2 cats and eyeballs my cockatiels, but she isn't a threat to them in the least way. It took me about 2 weeks to get her used to being in a household with birds and cats, but she learned pretty fast that I am the boss! She loves my daughter and snuggles with us on the couch to watch TV. She has been a bit clingy and loves to be petted, but I think she really loves people.

When she get outside she turns into a very prey driven girl...pointing at anything that moves! She loves to chase the squirrels with my other dogs. She is getting better and better at coming when called and her basic commands of sit and stay. I have taught her to stay at the door to get her feet wiped when muddy. She likes her crate now, too!
